Need to recycle your Christmas tree? Keep Georgia Beautiful and The Home Depot have got you covered. Bring One for the Chipper, the state's annual Christmas tree recycling program, invites Georgia residents to bring their trees to local drop-off centers on Saturday, January 9, 2010 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Atlanta residents can drop off at the Home Depot parking lots on Ponce de Leon Avenue and Sidney Marcus Boulevard.

Driving down the major Atlanta highways, I noticed many of the announcement boards are warning drivers about the new "super speeder" law taking effect this Friday, January 1, 2010. What this means is that drivers going 85 MPH or more on most Georgia roads will be subject to higher than usual fines. $200 will be tacked on to the regular citation amount.
On two-lane roads (meaning one lane each way), the fine will take effect at 75 MPH.
According to the AJC report, speeders will receive a regular ticket and then shortly after can expect a letter explaining the additional fees, along with the hefty bill. Drivers who don't pay within 90 days risk having their license suspended.
