Site Announced for Atlanta Civil Rights Center

Monday September 15, 2008

An announcement was made today naming a 2.5 acre site between the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola the official home for the highly anticipated Center for Civil and Human Rights.

The land was donated by Coca-Cola. The center, which is meant to honor the struggles and achievements of civil and human rights movements since Reconstruction, will add an additional point of interest to the growing tourism district in the Centennial Park area. It is expected to draw 650,000 visitors a year, create 1,150 new jobs and bring $1.1 billion to Georgia’s economy over 10 years.

The Center is scheduled for completion in 2010.
