Atlanta Development Authority Approves BeltLine Housing Plan
The Atlanta Development Authority recently approved the proposed plan for an affordable housing district around the 22-mile BeltLine project.
Affordable housing has always been an important aspect of BeltLine development. The new plan includes incentives for developers who include community land trusts and energy efficient homes in their projects. Incentives are also in place for those who make new developments available to city residents, BeltLine-area residents and public-service employees before opening sales to the public. Developers are also encourages to make 10 percent of units low-rent for residents who earn less than $20,760 per year.
Though the plan is approved by the Atlanta Development Authority, it must still face the City Council. It is expected to be put to vote later this week.
