New Atlanta Area Museum Opening in January

Sunday October 5, 2008

This week the press got a sneak peek at Atlanta's newest museum, Tellus: Northwest Georgia Science Museum. Tellus will open in January and is located north of the city in Cartersville.

The museum will compete with Fernbank. Exhibits include:

  • Crystals and gemstones, including a history of Georgia mining
  • Huge dinosaur replicas in the fossil exhibit
  • The history of "science in motion" featuring vintage cars, planes and helicopters
  • A children's discovery area

The museum is set to open on January 12, 2009. The museum's Cartersville location, 47 miles north of downtown, continues the trend of cultural destinations moving to Atlanta's suburbs.
