Chick-fil-A Bowl Selects Georgia Tech

Wednesday December 3, 2008

The Chick-fil-A Bowl, Atlanta's bowl game played on New Years Eve at the Dome, has selected Georgia Tech as this year's ACC contender. Tech will take on a yet-to-be-announced SEC challenger.

Here's some Chick-fil-A Bowl Fun Facts:

  • The Chick-fil-A Bowl is the oldest ACC vs. SEC match-up in the bowl business
  • When Georgia upset No. 14 Virginia Tech in 2006, the Chick-fil-A Bowl set the all-time attendance record for a sporting event in the Georgia Dome with 75,406 fans in attendance. That’s a bigger crowd than two Super Bowls and all the SEC Football Championship games.
  • The Chick-fil-A Bowl leads all bowl games in charitable and scholarship contributions. Last year, the Bowl contributed a record $1.04 million to charities and educational institutions.

Stay tuned for more Bowl game announcements, including the SEC team and fun bowl week events! The Chick-fil-A Bowl will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on New Years Eve.
