Kwanzaa with Kwanza: A Holiday Block Party Today!

Friday December 26, 2008

Join Atlanta City Council Member Kwanza Hall at an Old Fourth Ward block party to celebrate with music, entertainment, drinks and delicious treats from local restaurants. Head out to the festival and celebrate with friends while meeting new neighbors.

Why this day? Kwanza Hall explains:
"KWANZAA (with two A's) is now a well-known holiday that symbolizes harmony of spirit and diversity. Three decades ago, my parents hosted the city's first KWANZAA celebration at their home, which attracted a large, multi-cultural group - many of whom worked in human rights. My goal is to reignite the flames lit by my parents while giving back."

Hall asks for a $25 donation to support the holiday festival and the District 2 community, which includes Castleberry Hill, Downtown, Sweet Auburn and the Martin Luther King Jr. Historic District, Inman Park, Poncey-Highlands, the Old Fourth Ward, Midtown, Home Park, and the Marietta Artery.

The party starts at 7 p.m. at 466 Edgewood Ave, Atlanta, 30312.
