Atlanta Chili Cook-off at Stone Mountain

Thursday September 24, 2009

Despite the soggy weather this week, the Great Miller Light Chili Cook-off will go on this Saturday! Head to Stone Mountain Park for live music, contests, plus all the chili you can eat. This is a family-friendly event where you can sample hundreds of chilis, along with some cornbread and brunswick stew. As you sample, don't forget to vote for your fan favorite! Another fun aspect of the competition is the spirit (or booth decor) awards. Teams go all out with crazy displays and costumes ranging from pirate ships to trailer parks.

Admission is $10 for adults. Children under 12 are free. Tickets are cash only and don't forget to bring extra cash for admission to Stone Mountain Park, too (typically $8 per car, but sometimes higher for special events). Gates open at 10:30 a.m..

Insider tip: arrive early, the best chilis will run out in the early afternoon!
