Last Call Extended in Atlanta?

Follow me on:

Representative Kwanza Hall, who speaks for many intown neighborhoods, has introduced legislation proposing the city study the economic benefit of keeping the bars and nightclubs open until 4 a.m.. Currently, bars in the city must close at 2:30 on most nights and midnight on Sunday. This regulation has been in effect since 2003, when it was put in place to help reduce crime and general neighborhood noise.

Residents and city leaders are torn on the issue. Obviously, business owners would benefit. However, officials worry that it will place additional strain on our already understaffed police force. Many think that Atlanta needs to step up its nightlife to be recognized as a first-class city.

What do you think? Would you enjoy bars staying open later?

I agree that it should be extended but, and only but, if Atlanta can promise tightened security. Another point could be where neighbourhoods are close, nah, don’t change it. Let the 4am be extended downtown and midtown areas only.
