Easy Day Trips from Atlanta

By August 4, 2010

Follow me on:

This week meant back to school for many kids around Metro Atlanta, but there are still a few weekends of summer weather and lazy attitudes to enjoy some of the area's recreational activities. Here are few suggestions for family fun within a short drive of Atlanta that would be great for a day trip or can easily be extended for a Labor Day Weekend getaway.

  • Everyone loves a day at Stone Mountain Park, with a variety of outdoor activities like Duck Boats and rope courses, plus the famous laser show in the evening.
  • Take a Zip Line tour in North Georgia. Located just a little over an hour from Atlanta, you can soar through the tree tops on this outdoor adventure.
  • Head down to Pine Mountain and visit Wild Animal Safari, where you can get up close and personal with some exotic animals! While you're at it, stay overnight at Callaway Gardens and enjoy the bike trails, swimming in the lake and learning about wildlife.

Just did the Wild Animal Safari for the first time and it was a blast. You can see giraffes, elk, and about a dozen other animals. Really young kids might get scared because they do come close to the car. Don’t expect anything too fancy if you go here. We actually discovered this place from a site called DayZipping that has a bunch of day trips around Atlanta.

I’m curious to find out what blog system you happen to be using? I’m having some small security issues with my latest
blog and I’d like to find something more secure. Do you have any solutions?

Here is my web page … pokemon bee
