Yesterday Atlanta was shaken by the news of shots fired on the campus of McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Southeast Atlanta. Fortunately, no one was harmed, and the school was able to safely evacuate all students. A suspect, later identified as Michael Brandon Hill, was arrested on site in the school shooting. Hill was previously arrested just this March for threats against his own family. Hill's brother warned police that his brother suffered from mental issues and felt that he posed a real threat. A motive for the shooting is not apparent, and police have not said what connection Hill had to the Dekalb County school - other than living nearby.
Early Wednesday morning another young man was taken in to custody in Canton when he was spotted with several weapons on the campus of Cherokee Charter School. The man, identified as 31-year-old Todd Christopher Grigg of Woodstock, attempted to evade deputies and was eventually caught with three knives, leather gloves and a BB gun on his person.
At this time there is no reported link between the two incidents.
