From Joy Johnston, for About.com

Atlanta has a great number of romantic nooks and crannies to explore. Whether you are seeking a traditional upscale dinner, a weekend getaway, outdoor destinations, or intimate clubs and cafes, Atlanta can help make your romantic evening one to remember for a lifetime.

1. The Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View

The unique feature here is that the dining room actually revolves a full 360 degrees every hour. Since the restaurant sits atop downtown Atlanta's Westin Peachtree Plaza, this means that diners get a panoramic view of the entire city. The restaurant itself offers a classy ambiance, and an upscale, seasonal menu. Reserve a suite at the hotel to make the night complete.

2. The Ritz Carlton, Atlanta and Buckhead

One of the finest restaurants in Atlanta, The Dining Room at The Ritz Carlton, Buckhead, will allow you to experience exquisite French-Asian cuisine. For the ultimate romantic dinner, request "The Cheater's Booth" at Atlanta Grill, located at The Ritz Carlton, Atlanta (Downtown). This intimate table offers the privacy of a curtain, so that you can give undivided attention to your date.

3. Apres Diem

To prove that being romantic doesn't have to cost a lot of money, wine and dine your sweetheart at Apres Diem. A local favorite, the place oozes romance without stuffiness. From candlelit tables to the warm, inviting lounge, you can enjoy a very intimate time at Apres Diem for very little money. The reasonably priced bistro-style menu is well executed, and the dessert case is amazing. It's a great place for first dates.

4. Churchill Grounds

Considered to be Atlanta's premier jazz club, and conveniently located next to the Fox Theatre, Churchill Grounds offers a retro, European ambiance, with great live music, a nice wine selection, a full bar, specialty coffees, and tasty appetizers.

5. Atlanta Botanical Garden

What could be more romantic than being surrounded by gorgeous, fragrant flowers? Special events are held throughout the year, including evening strolls through the gardens with live jazz music, drinks, and food. Make an entire night of it, or stop by before heading out to a romantic dinner.

6. Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park, known as "Atlanta's green heart", is the perfect place for a leisurely stroll with that special someone and for a romantic picnic, especially during Atlanta's gorgeous springtime. Events such as the Atlanta Jazz Festival and Screen on the Green offer more opportunities for a romantic date.

7. Chateau Elan

This wine-themed luxury resort just a short drive from Atlanta offers everything from wine tours to golfing, spa treatments and gourmet dinners. A culinary studio allows visitors to take a hands-on gourmet cooking class. Chateau Elan is quite a popular place for weddings as well.

8. Callaway Gardens

Callaway Gardens offer romantic surroundings, luxurious accomodations, and a special "Big Band Weekend" package for Valentine's Day. The Gardens offer nature trails, bike trails, specialty gardens, and even a beach area. Special packages and events are offered throughout the year.

9. Nikolai's Roof

Nikolai's Roof is the ultimate in elegant dining. Perched atop the Downtown Atlanta Hilton hotel, Nikolai's Roof offers a wonderful view of the city, the best Russian inspired cuisine in Atlanta, professional servers, and a sommelier to help you navigate the restaurant's extensive wine list.
