Everyone needs a good laugh once and a while and Atlanta's improv comedy shows are the perfect place to find one. Actors put on shows with no script and go where the story takes them. Audience participation is often encouraged.
Dad's Garage is a well known improv comedy group that performs in the Inman Park area. They perform several shows a week and also offer classes.
Whole World Improv Theatre is located on Spring Street in Midtown and performs Thursday - Saturday each week. You can also book private shows for groups of 40 or more on Tuesday nights. Each Saturday afternoon they host a children's show. Whole World also offers classes.
Relapse Theatre, located on 14th Street near Georgia Tech, hosts a number of different improve shows and troupes. A unique feature of Relapse is Cineprov!, where the comedians play a movie and mock it in the style of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Companies perform at Relapse on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. People can also take classes.
The Village Theatre is located off of Boulevard and Dekalb Avenue (Decatur Street) near the neighborhood of Cabbagetown. The Village Theatre performs on Wednesdays (newbie night), Fridays (traditional improv show), and Saturdays (tournament style where you're the judge). Like the other places around town, they also offer improv classes.
