2012 Chanukah Events in Atlanta

Celebrate Chanukah in Atlanta with fun events around town that include all of the traditional signs of the season. Menorah lightings, latkes, and fun times for all are plentiful throughout the month of December. Check out our guide to some of the Chanukah happenings around town.

Meet the Holidays: Hanukah

Imagine It! Children's Museum, located downtown near all of Atlanta's biggest attractions, is hosting a series of "Meet the Holiday" events for kids. On December 15 and 16 visitors can listen to The Amazing Menorah of Mazeltown by Hal Dresner and then make a banner to decorate their home for Hanukkah. The will learn about the traditions of the holiday.

Saturday, December 15 at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. and Sunday December 16 at 2:00 p.m.

Chanukah Pajamakah Party

Join the Marcus Jewish Community Center for a free Chanukah Pajamakah Party at Barnes and Noble in Buckhead. Kids can don their finest bunny slippers and enjoy songs, crafts, stories and more.

Saturday, December 1, 6 - 8 p.m.

Vodka and Latkes

The grown up version of the Marcus JCC Pajamakah Party is the Vodka and Latkes party at Shout in Midtown. Dance and enjoy drinks on Shout's rooftop patio overlooking the city.

Saturday, December 13, 7 p.m. - 11 p.m., member and non-member pricing.

5th Annual Chanukah Celebration & Menorah Lighting

Head to Woodstock for an outdoor celebration and the lighting of the tallest Menorah in North Atlanta. Hot latkes and chocolate gelt will be provided. The celebration will be held in Downtown Woodstock Park. Rabbi Zalman Charytan will lead the group in prayer, song and the spreading message of Chanukah.

Chanukah Wonderland

Celebrate Chanukah at the Chanukah Wonderland festival at Amsterdam Walk. Hosted by Intown Chabad, this fun festival features music, doughnuts, a bounce house, candle making, handmade goods and refreshments for sale.

Grand Menorah Lighting and Chanukah Celebration

Celebrate the lighting of the Menorah in with donut decorating, latkes, raffles and other fun activities.

Virginia Highland: Sunday, December 9, 4:30 p.m., outdoors near the corner of Virgina and Highland Avenues
Decatur: Monday, December 10, 6 p.m. on the Decatur Square

37th Annual Hanukkah Bazaar

Gather with Congregation Or VeShalom for their annual Hanukkah Bazaar. The event features more than 30 artisan vendors, plus Kosher Sephardic treats, a used book sale, a silent auction, and children's activities including arts and crafts.

Underwater Menorah at the Georgia Aquarium

The Georgia Aquarium is getting in the Chanukah spirit! Each night during Chanukah they will light a candle in the Underwater Explorer exhibit. Yep, you read that right. Candles underwater!
