Atlanta has in the past decade become a hotbed for hip hop and rap artist talent, many who have gone on to have nationwide success. But Atlanta also has contributed artists in genres ranging from ragtime to country to Southern rock, and everything in between. Here is just a sampling of some of the great musical talent with ties to the Atlanta area.

1. Outkast

Outkast is one of the hottest rap/hip hop acts in the country, and they have earned numerous awards to further build their reputation. Consisting of 2 talents with opposite personalities, they come together to represent Atlanta to the rest of the hip hop world.

One of the best folk-rock duos of all time, these Decatur natives have never forgotten their local roots, and give back a lot to the community, including a record label, Daemon, that supports local musicians.
