Country and western bars, as well as folk music bars, are popular in the metro Atlanta area. There are plenty of friendly country and western bars to go for some two stepping, and folk music bars offer the best in live acoustic performances with a socially conscious twist.

1. Cowboy's

Located in Kennesaw, a northern suburb of Atlanta, Cowboy's is consistently rated as one of the best country and western bars in the metro Atlanta area. Live country music concerts, a huge dance floor, dance lessons, and family nights have earned Cowboy's Dancehall their great reputation.

2. Smith's Olde Bar

Not strictly country or folk, but if you want to see the latest and best in Americana music, Smith's is definitely the place to go. Great upstairs venue, separate from the main bar, offers an intimate space with a great sound system to see your favorite musical acts. Very reasonable as well.

3. Eddie's Attic

Eddie's Attic has been the best showcase for local acoustic music acts since opening its doors in Decatur in 1992. Such big name stars as the Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins, and John Mayer have all played here.

4. Wild Bill's

Wild Bill's is one of the largest country music clubs in metro Atlanta. It is located in Duluth, close to Gwinnett Place Mall. The club attracts national and local country music acts, and features a large dance floor, line-dancing lessons, and theme nights.

5. The Wild Mustang

This gay-friendly country-and-western themed nightclub is located where Jungle used to be on Cheshire Bridge Road in Atlanta. Enjoy plenty of dancing, from two-stepping to line dances- lessons are offered.
