Atlanta Events Calendar- AprilWild and Scenic Film Festival: April 2-3 at the Tara Theater. Doors at 6:30 p.m., films are from 7:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and at the door (based on availability). Each night offers a different program of six to seven environmental films of varying lengths, concluding with a local interest piece. Hosted by the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, The Georgia River Network and Georgia ForestWatch. 100 Years of Broadway: April 5th at 8 p.m. at Cobb Energy Centre. Tickets are $39.50 each. The production recreates the greatest moments from the finest shows of the century featuring the actual stars of shows such as The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, CATS, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Jekyll & Hyde. Atlanta High Speed Networking: April 2nd from 6:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m. at The Cosmopolitan Lounge in Midtown. You'll meet with other professionals, individually, a few minutes at a time and leave with a ton of new business connections- don't forget your business cards. After the event we will email you the list of attendees and what they're looking for so that you can follow up with your new contacts. Online In Advance: Members: $20, Non-Members $30. At the door: $35. Includes complimentary nibbles and cash bar. Only those who sign up in advance will receive the list of attendees so Playing the Field- Singles Night with the Atlanta Hawks: April 2nd at Phillips Arena. Quit rebounding from bad relationships and come have fun striking up a great conversation with Playing the Field and watching the Hawks play against Toronto. Tickets: $25. ATLexis 2008: April 5th, reception begins at 6 p.m. at the Rialto, performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Balzer Theatre. Gala tickets are $110 per person includes Rialto pre-show reception and performance ticket. Black tie is optional. This will be an evening of words, wit and wisdom from Southern literature shared through dramatic readings and music performed by notables such as Brooke Adams, Brenda Bynum, The Honorable Shirley Franklin, Tom Key, Susan Shalhoub Larkin, Carl Patton, Monica Pearson, Ferrol A. Sams, Jr., M.D., Tony Shalhoub (TVs MONK), and others, featuring recording artist Kate Campbell, and hosted by Scott Slade. Week of April 6th through April 12th Big Break Hollywood: April 11th through April 13th at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead. Participants will get a chance for their big break in Hollywood by learning the tricks of the trade with a panel of Hollywood executives, networking with Hollywood agents and casting directors, and sessions with acting coaches. No one under 18 allowed without parent or legal guardian. Visit the official website for registration fees and more details. Theatre Night at Silk: April 6th at Silk Restaurant in Midtown. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m.; the play begins at 7:30 p.m. This Theatre Night offers a special three-course dinner at Silk and an orchestra seat at the Alliance Theatres production of Doubt. The event costs $56 per person (plus tax and tip), and Silk requires diners to make reservations with a credit card by calling the restaurant at 678-705-8888. Atlanta Dogwood Festival- Artist Preview Party: April 3rd from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. $30 per person. IVF After Hours Seminar: April 9th from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Georgia Reproductive Specialists facility in the Northside Hospital area. This free seminar, designed for men and women, is conducted by qualified physicians at GRS discusses in vitro fertilization, one of many treatments available for patients with infertility issues. Oogles-n-Googles: FAIRYTALES n MORE : April 12th from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Town Center at Cobb (Upper Level above Guest Service). A Simon Kidgits Club event. FREE to Kidgits members; $5 for nonmembers, which includes an entire year of fun-filled activities. The event will consist of two fully interactive programs and an arts and crafts activity. Riesling 101: April 10th at 7 p.m. at Simply Wine & Gifts in Duluth. One hour classes are informal, but full of information and you'll leave with a new respect for one of the most widely planted grape varietals in the world. Atlanta's own guitar and flute duo will perform only one show so don't miss this special event. Tickets are $10 and sold at the door. Peru: Land of the InKas: April 12th at 7:00 P.M. at Aurora Theatre. Tickets: $25 General Admission. A Peruvian-American Association of Georgia production. Enjoy a night of dance and music from the Highlands of Peru. Women on Board Networking Event: April 9th from 6:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m. at the Latin American Association in Atlanta. The event offers the opportunity to meet with representatives of area nonprofits looking to recruit new board members. Introductory remarks offered by The Atlanta Women's Foundation CEO, Deborah Richardson. Participating nonprofits include the Georgia Budget & Policy Institute, Atlanta Women's Alliance and The Eating Disorders Information Network (EDIN).
