For most school districts in the Atlanta area, spring break runs from April 4-8, 2011. Be prepared for crowds at Zoo Atlanta and the Georgia Aquarium, as well as any jumpy place or movie theater if the weather is bad. Here are some fun things for your kids to do over spring break.
Camps
Georgia Aquarium Spring Break Camp
Camp H2O is Georgia Aquarium's camp. For spring break, you can register for individual days or the whole week. Children are split up by grade level, and each day has a special theme.
Ages: 5-11
Cost: $70.95/day and $335.95/week.
Members save $10 per day.
Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM; extended care is available.

Sign up for Spring Safari Day Camp at Zoo Atlanta. You can pick and choose your days: register for just one day or all five.
Ages: K-4th grade
Cost: $70/day and $56/day for members.
Hours: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM with extended care hours available.

Chattahoochee Nature Center Spring Break Camp
Camp Kingfisher at the Chattahoochee Nature Center offers wildlife and nature exploration, crafts, games, and fun. You can register for one, three, or four days of camp: Monday; Tuesday-Thursday; or Monday-Thursday.
Ages: K-7th grade
Cost: $60 for one day and $235 for four days; members get discounts.
Hours: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Extended care is available at no charge.

Other Fun Ideas
Try something different this spring break: visit Atlanta Rocks for indoor rock climbing. If you or your children have never rock-climbed, call 404.351.3009 for reservations and instructions.

Hours: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM M-F, noon - 8:00 PM Sa, and noon - 6:00 PM Su.
Rates: Experienced rock climbers pay $15 on weekdays and $17 on weekends. Novices take a 2-hour class that costs $25 per person.
Ages: Recommended 5 and up.
Purple Hippo is a great place for art, whether you come to open studio times ($13 for two hours) or sign up for a drop-off workshop. During spring break on Wednesday - Friday, kids can make spring-themed artwork. Each day is different, so you can sign up for more than one workshop.

Rates: $40 per workshop or $35 with advanced registration.
Ages: 4 and up.
It's a great time of year to visit Tanglewood Farms - the baby animals have been born, and your children can hold a baby goat or sheep. Visit all the miniature animals at this unique petting zoo!

Hours: 10:00 AM - 2:00 AM, Wednesday - Friday. 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday. Last tickets are sold one hour before closing.
