The Atlanta Dogwood Festival

By , About.com Guide

About the Festival:

Each year, thousands of Atlantans welcome in the spring weather at The Atlanta Dogwood Festival. Hundreds of artists come to display their sculptures, paintings, pottery, jewelry, photography and more.

The kid's village has fun activities like a rock climbing wall, inflatables and face painting.

You can also fill up on fair food, choosing from dozens of classics like funnel cakes and gyros.

Location in Limbo:

The Dogwood Festival is traditionally held in Piedmont Park. In 2008, the festival was forced to move to the parking area of Lenox Square Mall due to protective regulations caused by the drought. This decision was met with outrage from many Atlantans who felt you shouldn't usher in the spring season in a parking lot.

The festival was recently approved to return to Piedmont Park in 2009.

When & Where:

The 2009 Dogwood Festival will be help April 17-19 in Piedmont Park.
