The 2012 Veteran's Day parade will take place on Saturday, November 10, at 11:11 a.m. in the heart of downtown Atlanta. The route winds past many popular attractions including the Aquarium and the World of Coke.
The parade will start at Peachtree Street south of Ralph McGill/Ivan Allen Blvd and proceed south on Peachtree Street, turn right on Baker Street towards Centennial Olympic Park, The World of Coca Cola and Georgia Aquarium. The Parade Reviewing Stand will be on Baker Street between the World of Coca Cola and Georgia Aquarium.
The Grand Marshall in 2012 is veteran, actor and activist Tim Abell.
Deadline for purchasing tickets is noon on November 7, 2012.
The City of Marietta will celebrate veterans with a parade and ceremony near the historic Marietta Square. The parade will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 10 at Roswell Street Baptist Church and proceed down to the Marietta Square. At the end of the parade a ceremony will be held in Glover Park in the square.
Atlanta is taking part in a national 11K run - held in 10 cities - on November 11, 2012. There are special rates for active and retired military personnel. There is also a one mile fun run/walk. Registration is open until November 9, 2012.
