In addition to special events and festivals, there are also many places to see Christmas lights in Atlanta throughout the season.
A unique Atlanta tradition, children love to take a ride on the Pink Pig which returns to Lenox Mall each holiday season. Open daily throughout November and December, a ride is only $3 and is a great break for well behaved kids after a day of holiday shopping at the mall.
With marching bands, spirited floats and of course, Santa himself, this parade winds through the streets of Downtown Atlanta each December.
2013 Christmas Parade: December 7, 2013 at 10:30 a.m.
The Atlanta Children's Christmas Parade will take a new route this year, moving from Downtown to Midtown. The parade will travel down Peachtree Street from 5th Street to 16th Street. Want the best view? Bleacher seats are available for $18.
For easy access use the Midtown or Arts Center Marta station.
Each year the Atlanta Ballet brings to life the classic Christmas tale of Clara and the Nutcracker. This is a ballet full of holiday magic that has captivated young and old throughout the ages. It is also a great way to introduce children to the art of dance.
2013 Event: December 6 - 29 at the Fox Theatre
The St. Regis Atlanta presents Holiday Tea for guests and visitors of all ages. Highlights of the Holiday Tea include both sweet and savory treats like Smoked Salmon Crepes, Peppermint Macaroons, and Sticky Toffee Pudding.
2013 Events: Holiday Tea is offered daily November 29th through December 25th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tea with Santa will be offered November 29th through December1st, December 6th through 8th and daily December 12th through 24th. The Holiday Tea is $52 per person or $58 per person with a glass of champagne. Tea with Santa is $42 per person. Reservations for both tea services are requested. Callanwolde offers a variety of holiday events for children and families.
Holiday Tour: December 6 – 17, 2013
Tour the beautiful Callanwolde mansion and grounds while they are all dolled up for the season. Admission includes: Tour of the Historic Mansion, Aeolian Pipe Organ, Holiday Shopping with a combination of elegant decor and edible holiday gifts available for purchase.
On Wednesday, December 11,Cocoa and Caroling in the charming Callanwolde front lawn from 5:30pm – 7:30pm is also included in the cost of admission. $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, $12 for children.
Breakfast with Santa: Saturdays, December 7 and 14 at 9 a.m.
Enjoy breakfast, live entertainment, a visit with Santa, and a tour of the decorated holiday home. There will be sing-alongs fun coloring activities and an opportunity to tell the jolly elf your holiday wish in person! Don’t forget to bring a camera for your own photo with Santa. Breakfast provided by Chick-fil-A. Tickets: $20 per person (children and adults)
Artists Market featuring Etsy sellers: Saturday, December 7
From 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., Callanwolde will host a holiday market with handmade wares perfect for gifting.
Teddy Bear Tea: Sundays, December 8 and 15 at 3 p.m.
Dress up and bring your very special teddy bear for an elegant family tea. Enjoy the spirit of the holidays in the historic mansion, beautifully decorated for the season. Tea and hot chocolate, sandwiches, pastries, live entertainment and a visit with Santa will highlight a delightful Sunday afternoon for families. A tour of the decorated holiday home is included. Tickets: $25 per person (children and adults)
