Atlanta Area Tree Lighting Celebrations

Each year, communities gather outside to kick off the Christmas season at one of the many tree lighting festivals around Atlanta. Get the scoop on your local celebration.

Powder Springs

December 6

A spirited holiday parade through the Town Square is followed by live local entertainment and complimentary cookies and cocoa while snuggling up for a free horse and carriage ride. Begins at 5 p.m. in Town Square.

Roswell

December 6

This fun-filled evening has activities for the entire family to enjoy, including carolers, a special reading of "T'was the Night Before Christmas," a special visit from everyone's friend at the North Pole, and the "lighting" of the Square.

Sandy Springs

December 4

Heritage Sandy Springs presents the 2nd Annual Light the Lights at Heritage Green. The free community event will feature local school group performances, cookie decorating, hot chocolate and the lighting of the lights to celebrate the beginning of the Holiday season. Event takes place 5:30PM-7:30PM on the Sandy Springs Society Entertainment Lawn at Heritage Green.

Vinings Jubilee

December 4

Enjoy the sounds of the season, tastes of holidays treats, rides on reindeer ponies and a special train, magic tricks and a visit from jolly old St. Nick himself from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Virginia Highlands

December 4

Gather outside Murphy’s Restaurant with hot chocolate and cider, and listen to the Grady High School Choir perform at 6:30 pm, followed by the Atlanta Boy Choir at 7 pm. And at 7:30, the tree atop the restaurant, adorned with gleaming ornaments and lights, will be set aglow.
