As Labor Day passes and school buses returning to the roads, signs of fall are everywhere. Soon the leaves will begin to change and everyone will look for opportunities to get outside and enjoy the cooler weather. Oktoberfest in Helen

Where: Town of Helen, GA
When: September 13 - October 28, 2012

Every year the biggest Oktoberfest celebration is just a bit north of Atlanta in Helen, GA. The tranquil town transforms in to an all-out party with dancers in costume, authentic Bavarian food and festivals that last all night. Festival events take place at the Festhalle, where you can dance the night away or enjoy a drink in the Beer Garden. Helen does not mess around when it comes to Oktoberfest - the festival lasts for more than a month, starting in mid-September!

North Georgia State Fair

Where: Jim Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Rd SW, Marietta, GA 30008
When: September 20 - September 30, 2012

This annual event brings all the fair favorites with over 40 rides, games for all ages and other fun attractions. Shows include a horse show, an alligator show, bike stunts and local performers. There is also a petting zoo, different concerts every day and a North Georgia State Fair Beauty Pageant. Discount tickets are available through September 21 at local Walgreens locations.

Sandy Springs Festival

Where: Heritage Green, 6075 Sandy Springs Circle
When: September 22 - 23, 2012

Explore the artist market, stroll through the collector car show or bid on treasures in the silent auction. There will also be a 10K race and a 5K race, a children's park, food vendors, a pet parade and live entertainment from local bands.

Pumpkin Festival at Stone Mountain

When: September 28 - October 28, 2012 (Fridays - Sundays)

Ring in the Halloween season with the family-friendly Pumpkin Festival at Stone Mountain. October activities include a Pumpkin Palooza game show, pumpkin pie eating contests, a family scavenger hunt, costume contests, and trick or treating at the shops. On Saturday nights you can also enjoy the famous Stone Mountain Park laser show! Hours are Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. with an 8 p.m. Laser Show, Fridays and Sundays 10:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Taste of Atlanta

Where: Tech Square

The Taste of Atlanta is an annual food lovers event that can't be missed! This premiere food event brings together all of Atlanta's top restaurants - from casual to high end - for a fantastic tasting festival. Tickets include tasting coupons and additional coupons can be purchased. Tastes range from small bites to hearty sandwiches, so choose wisely! The VIP ticket is highly recommended for those who enjoy adult beverages - you'll get unlimited beer, wine and cocktail tasting plus select food bites that are VIP exclusives!

Field of Greens Festival

Where: Whippoorwill Hollow Farm
When: September 30, 2012

The Field of Greens Festival celebrates local food and is held each fall at Whippoorwill Hollow Farm, about 45 minutes from Atlanta. The event features a large farmers market, cooking demonstrations using the food from the market, a pig roast, and more. Dozens of local restaurants participate and unlimited tastings are included the in ticket cost. There's also a kids activity area and live music.

Smryna Fall Jonquil Festival

Where: 200 Village Green Circle, Smyrna, 30080
When: October 27 - 28, 2012

Need your festival fix this fall? Check out Smyrna's bi-annual Jonquil Festival. Shop for unique crafts from over 150 vendors. There will also be a wide variety of festival foods and a fresh harvest market with pumpkins. This is a free event.
