Zoo Atlanta's newest panda is named Po. The name is inspired by Po, the main character in DreamWorks Animation's 2008 hit children's film, Kung Fu Panda. Kung Fu Panda II will be in theaters in May 2011.
Zoo Atlanta and DreamWorks Animation have partnered together for giant panda conservation. Jack Black, the actor who is the voice of Po in the films, was present for the naming ceremony and supports the cause of panda conservation.
Po was born to Lun Lun on November 3, 2010. Until he makes his public debut in March or April 2011, you can view him on Zoo Atlanta's PandaCam on Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
