Moving to Atlanta:
In 2009 the announcement was made that the College Football Hall of Fame would move from South Bend to Atlanta. The museum will be located in the Downtown area near Centennial Park. This area is already home to may attractions including the Georgia Dome (home of the Atlanta Falcons), Philips Arena (home of the Hawks and Thrashers), Centennial Olympic Park and the Georgia Aquarium.
Project Progress:
In 2010, the site of the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta was revealed and renderings of the new museum were shared. The four-story building is going to be made to resemble a football on the outside.
The College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta will open in March of 2013, as a part of Atlanta's hosting of the Final Four tournament.
