Stone Mountain Park, located just 16 miles east of downtown Atlanta, is a family-friendly attraction with loads of different activities. For Atlantans it's a great day trip, but the park attracts visitors from around the southeast to stay for the weekend at their on-site hotels or campgrounds.

Stone Mountain offers many activities and outdoor attractions. They also host seasonal events and festivals throughout the year. The park is centered around the actual mountain, a 58-acre piece of granite with a memorial to the Confederate troops carved in it's side.

Park Attractions:

Stone Mountain Park offers about 15 different activities, depending on the season. Year-round highlights include the Summit Skyride, where you can ride a cable car to the top of the mountain, the paddle boats on the lake and the brand new SkyHike, a family ropes course challenge.

There is also a scenic train ride around the park, a 4-D movie adventure and a miniature golf course. In the warmer months of the year, a day at the park comes to an impressive end with the 25th Anniversary Lasershow Spectacular.Laser images will light up the side of the mountain and as you sing along to your favorite songs and enjoy fireworks on the lawn.

The park offers many seasonal events like art shows, chili cookoffs and Halloween activies. They also have one of the area's largest Christmas celebrations, with live shows, a parade, fake snow, a holiday villiage and over 2 million twinkling lights on display thoroughout the months of November and December.

Stone Mountain Park is located in Stone Mountain at exit 8 off of Highway 78 East. Driving Directions

What You Need to Know:

  • Hours: 10am - 6pm
  • Parking: Vehicles with 14 or fewer Passengers: $8.00
    Vehicles with 15 or more Passengers: $20.00
    Parking is cash only
  • Attraction Tickets:
    Tickets can be purchased on a per-attraction basis for varying costs.
    A One-Day Adventure Pass is $25.00 for adults and $20.00 for children (Ages 3-11)
