Spend the evening at Fernbank’s Martinis and IMAX and catch your last chance to see the Wild Ocean film before it closes. The night features live music, martini bars and dining options in the shadow of Fernbank’s famous dinosaurs and tickets include the film of your choice.

November 22, 2008

Jonesboro rings in the holiday season with the 16th Annual Holiday at Home Parade. Over 2000 participants will fill the streets with festive colors and music. Chick-fil-A founder and local resident Truett Cathy will act as the Grand Marshall. The parade begins at the intersection of McDonough St. and Stockbridge Rd. and proceeds north to the Confederate Cemetery, crosses the railroad tracks and turns south along Main Street to the Clayton County Courthouse.

Take a day trip to Chateau Elan in Braselton for the “It’s a Wonderful House” Tour of Homes and be surrounded with Christmas cheer. Four of the community’s most beautiful homes are gilded with garlands and lights, as gracious southern hostesses welcome you in to their homes. A shuttle is provided from the Winery to the homes.

Relax with an evening of free jazz from students at Georgia State University. Jazz Combos begins at 7:30om in the Kopleff Recital Hall, 10 Peachtree Center Ave on Georgia State University Campus.

If you prefer more well-known (and more expensive) musical performances, Madonna will be heating up the room with her Sticky & Sweet Tour at Phillips Arena.

The Jewish Community Center is throwing a pool party for teens. Kids can get together with friends and pretend its summer again while parents have some quiet time to prepare for the Thanksgiving feast. $10 admission includes food, music and two hours of pool party fun! Kickoff the holidays with the hilarious Santaland Diaries, a holiday comedy by famed author David Sedaris. This show chronicles Sedaris' experience as an elf at Macy’s Department Store. The show is recommended for ages 16 and older and will play through January 4. Horizon Theater, Euclid & Austin Avenues in Little Five Points.
