Inman Park, formed in 1889, was Atlanta's first suburb. Well-to-do Atlantans, including Coca-Cola founder Asa G. Candler, flocked to the area and built elaborate Victorian homes. Early residents were attracted to the area due to new streets, a park and part of Atlanta's first electric streetcar line, which were considered very modern amenities for the period. Today, Inman Park is a mix of old and new, with residents preserving the intricate historic homes and new development attracting young Atlantans to the area.
