Atlanta is home to theaters large and small, putting on a wide variety of performances from drama to comedy, musical to Shakespearean.
The Fox Theatre is the largest and most well-known theater in Atlanta. A landmark on Peachtree, the theater is home to most of the traveling Broadway-style productions that come through Atlanta and also hosts concerts, comedy shows and other special events. The Fox does not have it's own theater company.
The 2011 season will bring classics like The Blue Man Group, Stomp, West Side Story, Hair and more to the Atlanta stage.
The Alliance Theatre at Woodruff Arts Center is the most prestigious local theater company in Atlanta. The Alliance puts on shows of a national caliber and was recently awarded a Regional Theater Tony Award.

Georgia Shakespeare is a local theater company that performs on the campus of Oglethorpe University in the Brookhaven area. They have been bringing both classic and mondernized versions of Shakespeare's work to life in Atlanta for 25 years. Georgia Shakespeare also puts on occasional non-Shakespearean shows.
The 2011 season will include The Tempest, Antony and Cleopatra, Noises Off, The Glass Menagerie and A Christmas Story.
Located in Little Five Points, the Horizon Theater Company performs in a black box environment.
Their 2011 season will include Superior Donuts, Legacy of Light, Avenue Q, Three Sistahs, and Ruined.
