Without driving too far from Atlanta, you can have a memorable holiday experience at Coker Tree Farm. At this Marietta farm you can cut your own Christmas tree. You get to choose from four different varieties - Murray Cypress, Leyland Cypress, Carolina Sapphire and Fraser Fir. Tree heights top out around 10 feet. They provide the saws and will also help you load up your tree to take home.
Coker Tree Farm opens in late November and is open Monday - Friday from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday - Sunday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Coker Tree Farm is located at 2280 Macland Road, Marietta, Georgia 30064.
Kinsey Family Christmas Tree Farm:
Located north of Atlanta in Gainsville, GA (that's up near Lake Lanier, so make a day - or even a weekend - of it and visit the Magical Nights of Lights
), you'll find Kinsey Family Farm
. They offer both pre-cut and cut-your-own Christmas trees. They also do it up for the season - with fun activities like a campfire with marshmallow roasting and hot cocoa. You'll take a wagon ride out to choose your tree - and they have a staggering variety: North Carolina Fraser Fir, Douglas Fir, Concolor Fir, Leyland Cypress, Carolina Sapphire Cypress, Blue Ice Cypress, Naylor's Blue Cypress, Norway Spruce, Eastern Hemlock and Deodar Cedar. Pre-cut trees are stored in water to keep them nice and fresh. The farm also sells tree stands, wreaths, garlands and decorations, plus local honeys, salsas and jams.
Kinsey Family Farm opens each year the week before Thanksgiving. Their hours are Monday - Friday from noon - 7 p.m. and Saturday - Sunday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. The farm is located at 7170 Jot-em Down Road, Gainesville, GA 30506.
