I love buying gifts. I love to pick out the perfect item for a friend or family member. Sometimes people are hard to shop for and having some great gift shopping resources is a helpful place to start. Here are some of my favorite places in Atlanta to shop for creative gifts for Christmas, birthdays, hostess gifts and more.
Heliotrope
Heliotrope Home is a funky homegoods store located in Downtown Decatur. The shop is full of trinkets, artwork and decor. They also have a wide variety of cheeky, stocking stuffer type gifts. This is the perfect place to find a gift for a modern homemaker or your hipster friend. From Jonathan Adler pottery to cute stationary to kitchen gadgets you never knew you needed - Heliptrope is like a colorful candy store for adults. There items range in price from affordable to collectibles, so there is something for everyone here. They also have a large selection of not-so-Hallmark cards with creative artwork and hilarious messages.
Young Blood Gallery
Located on Highland Avenue in Poncey Highland, Young Blood Gallery and Boutique is a small but carefully curated shop of interesting, mostly handmade items. They feature everything from artwork to clothing and jewelry from both local and non-local artists. If you are a fan of sites like Etsy that give artists an outlet to sell their wares, Young Blood is a bit like Etsy come to life in Atlanta.
The Beehive
The Beehive, which recently relocated to the Edgewood shopping center, is another great place to find the work of local artists. Beehive offers everything from clothing to baby items to handmade soaps, but - in my opinion - the highlight of their items is the large variety of handmade jewelry. This is a great place to find a gift for your mom, girlfriend or cool sister, no matter what her style is. The Beehive also offers sewing classes for children and adults.
