PAWS Atlanta
PAWS Atlanta is a non-profit pet adoption center located in Decatur. PAWS has both cats and dogs of all ages for adoption. Their current list of adoptable pets is available online. At PAWS, you can visit with the pets and take dogs outside for a walk or playtime. In order to adopt a pet, you must complete an application and talk with the staff briefly about becoming a pet owner. Adoption fees are $100 for cats and $175 for dogs. All pets are micro-chipped, spayed or neutered and up-to-date on immunizations. PAWS Atlanta is a no-kill shelter.
Hours: Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday 12 - 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday 12 - 6 p.m..

Animal Action Rescue
Animal Action Rescue is dedicated to saving pets from high-kill shelters and placing them in loving foster homes until they are adopted. Dog adoptions are held every Sunday at the Petsmart on Ponce from 12:30-4:30 p.m.. You can view pets available for adoption online and also fill out your application in advance. You should contact Animal Action Rescue if you're interested in a specific pup, as not all animals are at the adoption site every week. Adoption fees includes all shots, rabies vaccination, spaying or neutering, and microchip.
Atlanta Humane Society
The Humane Society has always been a popular destination for pet adoptions. This friendly facility is sparkling clean and offers a wide selection of young and adult cats and dogs looking for a new family. Older dogs can be taken out to play, while young puppies can be held in your lap. Adoption fees vary but are typically around $100 for dogs and $85 for cats. Adoption fees includes all shots, rabies vaccination, spaying or neutering, and microchip.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., Saturday - Sunday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Fulton County Animal Control
At Animal Control, you won't find neat, sterile looking crates with puppies, but you will find loving animals looking for a new home. Pets in these shelters are often timid and sometimes take a while to warm up. Animal control is a kill-shelter, so you know you'll be saving a life when you adopt here. Older dogs can be taken outside, while younger puppies can be taken to a private pen where you can interact with the dog. Adoption fees are $85 for dogs and $65 for cats, and include all shots, deworming, microchipping and spaying or neutering.
Hours: Monday to Thursday - 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday - 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
