Pick Your Own Apples in the Atlanta Area

Pick apples this fall with your kids.

By

North Georgia is home to many apple orchards, but not all of them offer pick-your-own (PYO). If you want a fun activity with your kids, pick some apples this fall and bake a classic apple pie. Apple season usually starts in September.

Hillcrest Orchards

Pick apples from dwarf apple trees during the last three weekends in September and all four weekends in October. Since Hillcrest's Apple Pickin' Jubilee runs those weekends, you'll pay $6.00 for admission, but your kids will enjoy all the extras like pig races, cow milking, and inflatables.

Mercier Orchards may be known for their 45 apple varieties, but you can pick produce throughout the year: strawberries, cherries, blueberries, peaches, plums, and pumpkins. Pick apples on weekends starting August 20 - October. The peak apple picking time is September.

Mercier has lots of other activities: cook-offs, fishing demonstrations, a haunted house at Halloween. You can buy gourmet food items, deli sandwiches, and baked goods at the shop.

Mercier's website is mostly dedicated to their online sales. To find timely updates, friend them on Facebook

Red Apple Barn has other PYO produce throughout the year, such as corn. You can buy produce, baked goods, and preserves at the shop.
