Georgia Car Seat Law Change

All Children Under Age 8 Must Sit in a Booster or Car Seat

Effective July 1, 2011, all Georgia children under the age of 8 must ride in a booster seat or car seat. 

There are two exceptions: children who are over 4 feet 9 inches tall or who have a doctor's note confirming a medical condition do not need ride in a car seat.

Drivers who do not follow the new guidelines will receive a $50 fine and one point on their licenses for a first offense. A second offense results in a $100 fine and two points.
