Legal experts are puzzled by the loophole in Georgia law that allowed the older woman and minor boy to legally marry. The no-consent and age requirements are thrown out if the bride is pregnant. The law was probably written with the idea of a minor female bride who becomes pregnant by a young man of similar age, and in hopes of encouraging the two to raise the child as a family, permits the nuptials without parental consent. It's understandable that Georgia law doesn't cover the bizarre circumstances in this case, but by Clark being arrested on child molestation charges after being allowed to marry the "victim", there does seem to be a major legal contradiction.
